Two informational sessions will be held after Thanksgiving: Thursday, December 2, 11am - 12noon - HW 1537 Tuesday, December 6, 5:30 - 6:30pm - HW 1537 The BA/MA program in economics provides economics students at Hunter College to, not only obtain BA and MA degrees in an accelerated fashion, but also to enhance the types of technical skills that are highly valued in private and public sector work environments and at graduate programs in Economics, Public policy, Health, Development and Law.  The accelerated BA/MA in economics offers students at Hunter College the opportunity to earn both BA and MA degrees in roughly the same time that it takes to earn a BA degree. The degree program consists of a minimum of 120 credits, of which at least 95 are undergraduate credits and 30 are graduate credits. "End of Poverty" film at Hunter Sat 11/22 3pm

The following film will be shown at Hunter this Saturday Nov 22nd at 3pm in Hunter West room 714. I haven't seen the film myself so I cannot comment on it in much detail, but it features interviews with economists Amartya Sen, Joseph Stiglitz and a few others. The film would seem to offer a left-of-center perspective on the causes of world poverty, and a call to action to do something about it. It is narrated by actor Martin Sheen. More information about the film, including a trailer can be found here: http://www.theendofpoverty.net/

The Hunter Economics Club

A student who is trying to re-start the Hunter Economics Club is looking for other interested people to join and help him out.  This is the message he asks to pass on: Dear Economists, My name is Paul Kisielewski and  I'm a first year student.  I have a great passion for Economics, and I am trying to start a club.  The Economics club will gather together  a community  which shares the same interest in Economics.  Be it entrepreneurship/finance/law/ currency, etc... it's all Economics.   The club will also be based on learning bout difference career paths and opportunities. We will try to get top professionals from major New York City businesses to either meet with us or we would take a trip to meet him or her at his or her business.  If you would like to consider the opportunity then please email me back with times that you are available.  I will then email you back with a meeting time via the following week.  Thank you for your time, and look forward to hearing back from you. ...
