war and growth

In trade class we've often discussed how changes in relative prices brought about perhaps by changes in resource endowments may create growth but also conflict over the resulting resource redistributions. Thursday's 11:30am Brown Bag seminar speaker will be talking about the two-way relationships between growth and conflict but from a very very long run perspective. The seminar topic: War and genocide: is there a connection to transitions from stagnation to growth? promises to be highly provocative and entertaining and all students are welcome. eco740 students will see some growth modeling in action.
